First off, I don't know much about luzia or what ever, so if this is a fairy tale refrence or something, I apoligize for not understanding.
For vision I give it a three and a half out of five. The over all mood of the peice is'nt as strong as other photos I've seen, but I do thing it conveys it's message well enough. The hint of snow is nice, but I think it would show couldness better with a tiny bit more, or with less straw and grass in the way. I also think that giving more contrast between the light of the crown and the dark background would create a more dramatic effect.
For originality: 4.5, because I've actually seen quite a few digital paintings of poeple with nearly the same crown and cloak, but the fact that this is a photo, and that the overall feel is quite different (all the others were darker and mysterious) it makes this peice far more unique.
For technique: 2.5, because I think that the lighting could have been done much better. The fact that the sun is still up doesn't make me think of coldness like her clothing and pose suggest. I think that night creates a better image of cold in my mind, but I do love her pose and clothing. the setting is also the perfect location, just not quite the right time
for impact: 3.5. I do think more contrast and darker lighting would be more dramatic, and maybe softening the edges of her clothes with a digital editing program would help too, because although the pose and crown are striking, they seem to merge a bit with the background because of lack of contrast.
Overall I'd say that you nailed the pose and clothing, but you should work on your lighting a bit.
I apoligize if that wasn't what you were looking for, but I'venever writen a critique before and I'm not quite sure how, but I hope I helped you at least a little bit.
If I remember well, the Lucia is a young girl wearing a crown of candlles on her head for the Christmas celebration in Scandinavia. She goes from house to house offering drink and eat. I can't tell you more about here, aside it's in the memory of St Lucy. You may consider her like Santa Claus (American origin) and Christkind (german tradition) in the way she is a symbol of the Christmas season.
Beautiful shot, as usual. Thank you for this little piece of tradition before Christmas!
Luzia Woman is the name for the skeleton of a (Paleo-Indian) woman found in a cave in Brazil, South America. Some archaeologists believe the young woman may have been part of the first wave of immigrants to South America. Nicknamed Luzia (her name pays homage to the famous African fossil "Lucy", who lived 3.2 million years ago), the 11,500 year-old skeleton was found in Lapa Vermelha, Brazil, in 1975 by archaeologist Annette Laming-Emperaire.[1] [link] Among these bones was an unusual, and undated, calotte (skullcap) that somehow simply disappeared.[2]
